7th Generation of video games

the 7th generation of consoles are consoles like. Xbox 360, PS3 and the Nintendo Wii. All of these consoles have their main selling points, For the Xbox 360 it has amazing online play and amazing graphics not to mention the games on sale for it. Games like Forza 3, Gears of War 1&2 and also the Call of Duty series. The PS3 also has amazing graphics and quality games however the online play is not as good as the Xbox 360. The Nintendo Wii does not have very high quality graphics like the Xbox and the PS3 however it is more family related with games like Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports.

6th Generation of consoles

The 6th generation of console gaming would be consoles like the PS2 (PlayStation 2) and also the Xbox also the gamecube. The main consoles of these were the Xbox and the PS2, These two consoles were constantly bringing out new amazing games, and there were many people who believed that one was better than the other. Each console had their good points and not so good points. The Gamecube which was made by Nintendo was mainly aimed at pre-teens and didnt have too many games for the more mature player. The Xbox was believed to be a PC in a box because of the graphics. The PS2 probably had the most games out of all of the consoles and also it was able to play the older PS1 games.

5th generation consoles

the 5th Generation of consoles were consoles like : PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64 and the Sega Saturn. each one had very good sales and also were very different so people had their own personal favourite.

This is the PlayStation 1

playstations used CD:ROM which was a CD with all of the data that you placed into the disk tray and closed the lid and the disk rotates and the game plays. However the down part to this is that the data can be copied and sold for a lot cheaper so people are makeing profits from the game designers hard work.

This is the Nintendo 64

this console uses cartidges that are placed in the slot on the top. The upside to this is that people are unable to copy the data and sell it off to make a profit. aslo one of the better parts of this over the playstation is that you were able to plug in four controllers other than 2 like on the PS1.

This is the Sega Saturn :

the Sega Saturn was also one of the consoles that used the CD:ROM and as i have already said it was very risky as people could copy the data and sell it off, however this was also a very new development in technology so people were more than willing to buy the product. The sega saturn was another part of one of the 5th generation consoles and this was also a console that had very large sales and it's own games that were very attractive to gamers and thats what kept people coming.

Battle of the 16 BIT

what is a 16 bit ????

basically the more "bit" that you have the more space or memory you have and the amount of power with it as these were the two leading consoles in the whole of the games industry and the pads that you play with were very dynamic and were hand-held other than the other big machines that were used to play pong on.

the image above is a "SNES" or super nintendo entertainment system this along with the Sega mega drive were the best sellers and were kind of battling to win more sales over the other

thse big games for the segamegadrive among these are street fighter, sonic and streets of rage and many more. It was these games that set a kind of standard in the games industry as great games to play for all ages and also as great sellers.

these were the big games for the snes among these are, mario, megaman, puch-out and castlevania and a few others. These were the big sellers for SNES and were around for a long time and still are.

the history of video games began with a game called pong. Made by a company called Atari. This game was played with a little knob and you moved it up and down to hit the little ball past the other little stick and if you do then you get a point. The game was produced in 1972.
